Darkness can only be controlled by those with the darkest of hearts.
Ellison lost her mother at an early age. Now, sixteen, her father has found love again. He’s happy and doesn’t quite notice that Ellison does not get along with his new wife or her vicious daughters.
When Ellison discovers a necromantic tome while traveling the secret passages of her father’s mansion, she wonders if it could be the key to her eventual freedom.
Until then, she must master her dark new power, even as her stepmother makes her a servant in her own home. And when her younger brother falls incurably ill, Ellison will do anything to ease his pain, including falling prey to her stepmother’s and stepsisters’ every whim and fancy.
Stumbling into a chance meeting with Prince William during a secret visit to her mother’s grave feels like a trick of fate when her stepmother refuses to allow Ellison to attend a palace festival where she might see him once more.
But what if Ellison could see the kind and handsome prince again? What if she could attend the festival? What if she could have everything she’s ever wanted and deserved by conjuring spirits to take revenge on her cruel stepmother? And what if she actually liked watching her stepmother suffer?
As Ellison’s power grows, she loses control over the evil spirits meant to do her bidding. And as they begin to exert their own power over Ellison, it becomes harder to tell whether it is she or her stepmother who is the true monster.
CINDERELLA NECROMANCER is CINDER meets ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD and was inspired by a real medieval grimoire of necromancy from 15th-century Germany
Cinderella, Necromancer by F.M. Boughan
Publication Date: September 5, 2017
Publisher: Month9Books

F.M. Boughan is a bibliophile, a writer, and an unabashed parrot enthusiast. She can often be found writing in local coffee shops, namely because it’s hard to concentrate with a cat lying on the keyboard and a small, colorful parrot screaming into her ear. Her work is somewhat dark, somewhat violent, somewhat hopeful, and always contains a hint of magic.

Now that Lia and Clay’s love has broken the Little Mermaid’s curse, everything has changed. Will Lia’s family remain on land, leading the only life she and her sisters have ever known, or will they move below the waves, to the sparkling new capital city? Lia is adamant about staying on land with Clay for her senior year. But at Melusine and her father’s trial, new revelations threaten what Lia holds most dear.
The verdict will shake Lia’s whole world, calling into question her future with Clay, her feelings for Caspian, and the fate of all Merkind. As she wonders who to trust, Lia sets out on a treacherous path that will lead her away from her sheltered Malibu home to a remote and mysterious school for Mermaids—Mermaids who may hold the secret to ancient magic Lia can use to either get back all she’s lost or to embark on a thrilling and dangerous journey.

Meditation is a Car Wash for your Soul

It has been about a year for me now of meditating every day, or well, almost every day. Meditation for me is like putting my soul through a carwash. It helps me scrub away all my anxiety and worries and come out of the mediation feeling relaxed, awed, and inspired.

I can't image this practice not being in my life. I'd like to know what meditation means to you!

Life Lesson-Cutting Yourself Some Slack

So, I didn't win NaNo this year. I did however, learn a lot about myself! I started off great, but after about a week or two I found myself drained. I've wanted to be an author for a long time, and I don't see that dream ever expiring. I've spent the last two years working on other goals/dreams, like finishing college (while working full time) and moving to Oregon. I've been go-go-go for so long, I wasn't ready to jump back into that mode again...and you know what? That is perfectly fine.

I'm slowly learning to be easier on myself. I can do anything I set my mind too, this I know, but I also need to know when to cut myself some slack. Once I figured this out it was like a weight had been lifted from me, I don't have to be perfect!

I think a lot of times some of us can be too hard on ourselves. We try to so hard to live up to all the potential we see in ourselves we forget to just take a break. I don't have to have a plan right now for when my novel get's done. I have all my notes, I think about my characters every day, and I know when the time is right I'll get back down to business.

Did you win NaNo? How did you do it? If you didn't win, what takeaways do you still have from your experience?

Truly Thankful

As I've gotten older I find it easier to have gratitude for where I am in life and those around me. Once Thanksgiving hits I find myself reflecting on the year as a whole. So much has happened this year! I accomplished a lot of longtime goals I had been working towards for a long time.  All that work and it truly paid off!

As a semi-professional on all things happy, one thing I have found that brings happiness is reflecting on all the good in your life. I haven't always lived up to my name, and have been in dark places in the past. Even in those dark times, if you look hard enough you can find things to be thankful for. While it's great to do this on Thanksgiving if you make an effort to be thankful every day you will find your happiness will grow.

NaNo is here!

It is now November. Which means for us writer types, doing our best to knock out 50k in one month. There are plenty of posts out there with tips and advice.

For me, this is a great opportunity to start on my dream. I have wanted to be a published author since 2009. Now that I've graduated and settled down in a job, I can rub my hands together and get to work!

I believe if you really want something, I mean like down to your core, all the work you put into getting yourself there isn't for lost. If you want it, work for it and watch it happen!

Books don't write themselves, so if we want the awesome stories that form in our minds to be shared by others, putting the effort is needed.

So my fellow writers, we got this! We all desire to walk into a bookstore and see our novel on the shelf. This is in our grasp! Don't give up!!

Rage of the Dragon King by J. Keller Ford
presented by Month9Books!

Happy Book Birthday, Jenny!

David and Charlotte paid their dues. They traveled to another realm, battled the Dragon King, recovered the all important magic key to the mage tunnels, and found the heir to the throne of Hirth, as promised. Now it's time to go home. There’s just one problem: the powerful crystals needed to activate the tunnels have been stolen…and David’s parents have mysteriously disappeared along with them. Guess who’s not going home to Havendale anytime soon.
Eric Hamden, squire extraordinaire, survived the poisonous knick of a shadowmorth’s blade, rescued the king of Hirth from the bowels of the dragon's lair, and confronted a heartbreaking betrayal that nearly got him killed. Still reeling from the news, Eric sets his sights on a daring rescue only to wind up in a prison of his own with David and Charlotte at his side. But rescues come in strange ways, and before they know it, the three end up in David's hometown of Havendale...and Eric gets a quick schooling in Modern Life 101. He'd rather fight a dragon.
With secrets, lies and betrayals meeting them at every turn, David, Charlotte and Eric soon discover that Havendale isn't the sanctuary they'd hoped for. Even their best-laid plans can't prepare them for the danger that stalks them. This time, no amount of magic or prayers can save them. War has been declared, and in the final battle, someone must make the ultimate sacrifice. Let the battle begin.

Simulation Theory and Science Fiction

I have loved science fiction since I was in elementary school. My first science fiction book I got a library book sale was The City of Gold and Lead by John Christopher. I remember my mind being blown and before I even realized it, I was hooked.

I have been watching and reading various science fiction stories ever since. When I have story ideas they almost always are in the science fiction genre. Now, I know this is a nitch genre. I think a lot of us enjoy Star Wars and other uber-popular science fiction stories. This makes me wonder though, how many of us actually stop to contemplate all the possibilities for our universe.

About a month ago I stumbled upon a scientific theory that really caused me to question and think about our universe. This theory is the simulation theory. I'm still devouring information on it and writing out my notes, trying to make sense of everything I am learning. is pointing to the fact that the movie The Matrix is closer to what reality is than what we have thought. Just let that sink in.....

We could be a sim in a game like The Sims, but we are becoming a sim that knows it is in the sims game. Uh...yeah.

What really gets crazy is that scientist from different studies are coming to this same conclusion. I am no scientist but as a person who questions everything, this is all almost overwhelming to me.

As a writer, story ideas are just oozing out of my brain at such a fast rate I can hardly keep up. This is a great problem to have, especially right before national novel writing month.

This also gets me excited for the future! What will we learn about our reality now with this theory at the forefront?

I encourage you to seek out some understanding on this. It does take an open mind I feel. In science, we question everything and want to keep an open mind, but I think most of the time we think we "are open" but really don't want to have to change our thinking if we don't have too. The truth is always a hard pill to swallow.

I'm now at the point where I can accept that what I perceive as my reality may not be a true representation of the true reality, but where does that leave our consciousness? Do we still have souls?

Like I said, these questions make for amazing novel ideas!

So, take a deep breath and watch this video below. See if your mind is blown as well! What do you think? Could we really be in a simulated reality?
